Odd forces are with me for once, and things seem to be going really well! Christina asked me to be her maid of honor for her official marriage! The ceremony will be at City Hall on July 3rd, and we have been scrambling to find a dress, shoes, and perfect hat for the lady. She is such a gorgeous bride in her early 90's short cocktail number, complete with white heels, and cream wide-brimmed hat. I will take pictures at the event of course, I cannot even hold in my excitement! Marriage is such a great thing, and Christina and Weston could not be more perfect for one another.
I finally got my transcripts, financial aide, and admission essay bound and submitted for St. Edwards. I received an email from the school letting me know that it is being processed. I can only seem to wait; it could take up to four weeks to know the answer! I am more than nervous about the whole ordeal, but as I said, things are looking up. Time will tell, keep your fingers crossed!
We have been spending a great deal of time with our friends Nate, Michael, and of course Christina. Sarah has made appearances, a bit of my lovely friend Kate, and others who add such joy to my evenings. Grilling meat and veggies, Lonestar (OFFICIAL BEER OF TEXAS), and good friends make everything better at the end of a working day! Bouncing ideas back and forth with Christina about future writing plans, and ideas for working with clothing and film has filled my head with great notions. I feel like this huge creativity streak is about to begin allowing for such an outlet to my stress! I plan on enlarging my etsy store, dabbling with Ebay for a few newer selections, and creating a small zine possibly?

More recently I have become an advocate for healthy local dining, attempting to eat organic goods grown right here in Austin. This is actually fairly hard to do, even in a city with one of the best farmers markets I have come across. Reducing the amount of food in your diet that has been transported by fossil fuel is a challenge to any student, let alone young woman who has little to no time to prepare dinner after working all morning/afternoon. I have been known to sneak out and grab something pre-made at either my place of employment, or Whole Foods when I cannot muster the energy to make a salad. But, I have come across some restaurants that are incredibly similar to eating in my own kitchen, for close to the same price! Today Christina and I went to Snack Bar on South Congress and had a late lunch. My "European Salad," came with a massive bed of spinach, chilled beets, goat cheese, sliced almonds, shaved carrots, and a balsamic vinaigrette with raisins! We shared local tortilla chips and fresh tomatillo salsa, and finished off our meals with fair-trade coffee. All in all I spent around $14.00 with tip. I am more than full, and so at peace knowing that the salad was made with organic items bought at the same market that I frequent! I suggest that everyone find a similar place in their hometown and give it a try. Supporting local agriculture not only keeps money within your local economy, it also supports your local eateries!
This weekend was perfect!
