Christina and I decided that we needed a day away from the men, and treated ourselves with a trip to the Domain. Austin isn't the best place for designer shopping, which is fine, I actually prefer the locally owned boutiques with resurrected thrift-store finds, and the peddling of local designers. But occasionally I like to drive twenty minutes north, (literally into the unknown for me), to an awesome sort of outlet mall called the Domain. Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, MAC, Betsy Johnson, Zara, Macy's, all of the things you might take for granted in your city are not so conveniently located just outside of mine! Luckily there are great sales on certain occasions, and I can actually afford to splurge with there being five Fridays in the month of July! I managed to snag a pair of boots from Zara, originally 100.00 for just 35.00. I could not find a picture of them for the life of me, and I have not been able to charge my camera, so:

They look almost identical to the Chloe Susan boots from earlier this year, without the studding. These along with a perfect black denim skirt (19.00), and a soft cotton black and white striped top (12.90), I was more than pleased!
I also bought myself a straw hat, the itch for head-cover has been driving me insane. Growing one's hair out is harder than one would think. Long curly bangs are awkward, warm, and unflattering at the "just-above-nose" length. For only 7.80 at Forever21, who could resist?
All in all I walked away with some great pieces! We stopped and had lunch at the Steeping Room, one of the best places to eat North of my house. We each had half of a tea sandwich with a cup of soup. Coconut-Tomato to warm our insides, with a roast beef cut, grilled red peppers, basil mayonaise, as well as a braised Lapsang Souchong chicken with tart green apples, cucumber, and scallions. We shared a pot of black tea infused with real lychees, and finished everything off with a vanilla lemon mousse with raspberries and passion fruit coulis! Perfect in every way. I couldn't have asked for a better afternoon. Now I am sitting, knee-deep in financial aid forms for St. Edwards. Wish me luck!

lol, every once in awhile you've definitely gotta break away from the boys for good ol' girl time! i am a firm believer :)
