Don't push me;

I had a glorious Memorial Day weekend full of BBQ and friends. I was allowed three days off, and failed to answer phonecalls, forgot to pay bills, and remembered to treat myself to a huge amount of sleep. We were guests to a "white trash" graduation party, pictured above; and held our own cookout on Monday. (Who knew that dressing like white trash meant wearing my normal clothing with one or two fake tattoos?) I had forgotten what it was like to entertain and thoroughly enjoyed having my new friends over for lunch. Christina, Weston, Sarah, and Kate all made an appearance for Gogi's wonderful grilled burgers and steak. I am BBQ dreaming, hoping for more!

It is storming something horrific here in Austin. I am sitting at Spiderhouse, my favorite cafe of choice watching the lightening rattle the windows. My coffee has grown cold, by mind tired, and my work hasn't even been touched! It is something sentimental to sit here in this old worn booth and watch the rain fall. It reminds me of three summers ago, when Sarah and I frequented this haunt daily, watching El Nino take a toll on Austin soil. Rain was abundant then, which meant more time spent swimming at the greenbelts and in the flowing rivers. We have had a drought for the past two years, and I cannot explain how much I welcome this rain! I am hoping to plant my garden this weekend, jalapeno and basil plants sit waiting in small pots. Cooking endeavors will ensue once these little ones have reproduced.

I have been cheap the last month, hoping to afford a few things for myself. This did not happen due to the double rent, the deposits, and the never ending cycle of bills! But now, with a light at the end of my financial tunnel, I have been hunting down bargains online. I will dedicate a post to amazing fashion at good prices, and will also link this blog to my etsy account. Stay tuned...

I am in the middle of my application essay for St. Edwards. It is so hard to grasp the fact that I haven't been challenged by way of writing since my junior year of highschool. I barely remember MLS formatting, have forgotten how to write a proper outline, and have found random sentences sitting on a skeletal piece of paper for the last two weeks. My chances for financial aide are dwindling with each passing day, but I am at a standstill with this paper! Wish me luck...
